What makes Paine's Creek Unique?

Paines Creek is one of the best places to watch the sunset in Brewster, regardless of the season. Stony Brook is a stream that joins Cape C0d Bay at this spot. The tides come and go here and wash in and out of the marshes, the creek, and between the rocks. You can see Wing Island Conservation Area from here, making for a wonderfully diverse and sticking landscape in any season. As you can guess, we go there often and have tons of photos from this beach.

Paines Creek is a great spot to launch your kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Parking is limited to a few spots, usually full except in the worst weather in January and February.

Brewster Flats

The Brewster Flats are formed by a sandbar that makes what I call a shallow swimming pool. Parents can relax and let the little ones splash around in the surf without being overtaken by gigantic waves. Disclaimer: you know you've always got to watch them; you never know what they'll get into.

At low tide, the flats become a playground for amateur oceanographers, big, small, young, and old. The array of sea life that one can observe here is magnificent and always changing. You'll find tidal pools, clam beds, oyster farms, seaweed, marsh grass, small collectible stones, huge boulders, and more.

The flats also make for dramatic photos at sundown, as the tides create rippled, wavy patterns in the sand that collect water and reflect the amazing colors of the setting sun.
